The Gyb’Easy by Wichard is an innovative boom brake designed to make gybing safer and more controlled.
Why use a boom brake?
Gybing remains one of the most challenging manoeuvres on a sailing boat, even for experienced sailors. An uncontrolled boom movement can result in crew injuries and significant damage to onboard equipment.
The Gyb’Easy provides an efficient and reliable solution to reduce these risks by ensuring smooth and controlled boom movement during gybes.
How does it work?
The system uses the friction generated by the dedicated Gyb’Flex line as it passes through the boom brake. This allows the boom to move progressively and smoothly, without sudden shocks or jerks.
The more times the line passes through the brake openings, the greater the friction generated, increasing the braking effect and control.
Adjustable Performance
The braking effect is adjusted by changing the tension of the line. The system offers three different settings, allowing sailors to adapt the boom control to varying wind conditions and mainsail configurations.
Quick and Easy Installation
Gyb’Easy can be installed in just a few minutes on a boom eye strap. Two different rigging configurations are possible, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of deck layouts and boat setups.
With Gyb’Easy by Wichard, every gybe becomes safer, smoother, and more controlled, providing greater confidence for the crew and better protection for your boat and equipment.
